“Meet-the-Locals” Business Mixer to Encourage

Local Business Participation in Job Corps Operations

CLEARWATER, Florida – August 13, 2008 –  Pinellas County and the City of St. Petersburg, in partnership with Pinellas Technical Education Centers (PTEC) have scheduled a “Meet-the-Locals” Business Mixer to encourage local companies to connect with potential Job Corps operators to discuss vendor and procurement opportunities.  

The mixer will be held on Thursday, August 28, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the PTEC, St. Petersburg Campus, located at 901 - 34^th Street South in St. Petersburg.  Businesses may register for this event at http://www.siliconbay.org/calendar/register.asp?id=2030 

“Our goal is to introduce the prospective operators submitting proposals to our local businesses and to maximize the economic impact in our community,” shared Commissioner Robert B. Stewart, Chairman of the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners.

Earlier this month, the U.S. Department of Labor issued a Request for Proposal (RFP)  to operate the new Pinellas County Job Corps Campus located in the Midtown community of St. Petersburg. These RFP respondents will want to connect to the local community to find suppliers and vendors.  The mixer will provide an excellent opportunity for local companies to meet potential operators. Pinellas County companies are urged to bring promotional materials and their sales pitches to the August 28^th mixer.
