July 2006 Pinellas County Success Story

STAR TEC – Innovation, Acceleration, Success.  The STAR Technology Enterprise Center (STAR TEC) is an integral part of Pinellas County’s small business success.  Housed within the Young-Rainey Science, Technology, and Research Center, a former Department of Energy facility, STAR TEC supports the growth of early stage manufacturing and technology-based companies, enabling them to migrate their product/service to market more rapidly and effectively.

ReadyAlert Services has experienced tremendous success as one of STAR TEC’s tenants.  Happy Rideout, CEO of ReadyAlert, has this to say about the program: “I wouldn’t call STAR TEC a business accelerator. I would call it a ROCKET PROGRAM. We’ve accomplished more in six months than we would have in a year if we were still working out of our home office. Our access to STAR TEC’s network of professional service providers has provided our business with the infrastructure critical to its success."

Two new tenants have recently joined ReadyAlert, for a total of eight companies calling STAR TEC home.  Alaka’i Consulting & Engineering, Inc., founded in Hawaii, provides next-generation sensor and technology services for the defense and security markets.  Homeland Intelligence Technologies, Inc. designs, develops and manufactures antiterrorism equipment.
