Tampa Bay’s First Manufacturing/ Technology Accelerator Opens its Doors. Be among the first to tour STAR Technology Enterprise Center (STAR TEC), on November 18, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Young-Rainey STAR Center, 7887 Bryan Dairy Road, Suite 220.  The Premiere Event will feature a tour of STAR TEC’s new facility, a ribbon cutting ceremony and “Entrepreneur War Stories”. Looking for a Small Business Loan? Meet One-on-One with SBA Representatives on November 23rd. The Small Business Administration Programs and Services course connects small businesses with local SBA lenders. Loan programs include: private investment and resource partners, bonding, government contracting, and 8a minority small business certification. The seminar will be held on November 23rd from 10:00 a.m.12:00 noon at the Pinellas County Business Development Center. Dispose of Hazardous Waste Inexpensively and Conveniently on November 10. Small businesses that produce less than 25 gallons, or 220 pounds, of chemical waste per month may bring their hazardous waste and electronics to the quarterly EnviroBusiness Collection. The collection will be held on November 10, from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Household Electronics and Chemical Collection Center, 2990 110th Avenue North, St. Petersburg. Florida’s Biotechnology Industry: Explosive Growth and Trends on November 16th. Join local businesses, government leaders, venture capitalists and university officials to discuss emerging trends that are making Florida the innovation hub for life sciences. The conference will include informative seminars, planning sessions, networking opportunities and a keynote address by Donn Szaro, Global Health Sciences Director of Ernst and Young. Stay Home AND Work to Reduce Overhead Costs and Increase Productivity.  Telework Tampa Bay, a joint initiative of the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council (TBRPC) and Bay Area Commuter Services (BACS), is a pilot program that encourages companies to support employees working from home. The agencies recruited 15 employers to host a 12-month telework program with policy guidance and training assistance from TBRPC and BACS. Pinellas County Businesses Cautiously Optimistic for 2005. Pinellas County Economic Development has released the results of its 2004 Biennial Business Assistance Survey. The survey, mailed to 10,000 randomly selected businesses in Pinellas County, shows businesses are cautiously optimistic about 2005; one-sixth (16%) are considering adding locations and 31% expect their full-time employment to be higher a year from now.
