Business Disaster Planning Kits are Available at the Pinellas County Business Development Center.  As Florida begins to assess damage from the aftermath of Hurricane Charley and prepare for the next storm of the season, Pinellas County Economic Development invites all businesses to utilize the free Florida Business Disaster Survival Kit containing safety tips, record storage information, emergency contact information, and federal disaster assistance links. Travel to Central America with Enterprise Florida’s Export Marketing Mission September 30-October 2, 2004.  The Export Marketing Mission will include visits to Guatemala City, Guatemala; San Salvador, El Salvador; and San Pedro Sula, Honduras; as well as corporate meetings, networking events and information sessions designed to foster international trade growth with Central America.  For more information about this event, or to view a listing of products being actively solicited by Central America officials, click here or contact Kathleen Good at (727) 464-7423.

Explore Global Trends in Biotechnology at Enterprise Florida’s Life Sciences Forum September 30-October 1, 2004.  Join local businesses, government leaders, venture capitalists and university officials as they discuss the emerging trends that are making Florida the innovation hub for life sciences. Growing or Starting a Business?  Don’t Miss the Fall Session of NxLeveL Business Planning. The Pinellas County Business Development Center is accepting registrations for its premier training class, NxLeveL Business Planning, designed for expanding or start-up businesses. The class meets every Thursday from September 2nd through November 4th, from 5:45 – 9:00 p.m. Participants will engage in group planning sessions, develop a comprehensive business/marketing plan, and analyze cash flow, credit, and a sample balance sheet.  A course fee of $149 includes a textbook, workbook, and unlimited planning sessions with a business counselor.  For more information or to register, email kforster@pinellascounty.org or call (727) 464-8113.
New Medical Manufacturing Course Added to University of South Florida’s (USF) Curriculum. Beginning this fall, USF will unveil a new course: Overview of Regulated Industries (Medical Device Emphasis), to train employees for jobs in the medical manufacturing industry. The course is a cooperative venture between the USF Engineering School, Florida Medical Manufacturing Consortium, the Florida High Tech Corridor Council, and USF Connect to increase training for one of the area’s fastest growing industry sectors. Congratulations to the Winners of the Tampa Bay Business Journal’s BusinessWomen of the Year 2004.  The Tampa Bay Business Journal announced the winners of its BusinessWomen of the Year Awards 2004 at an annual dinner on August 20, 2004 and praised the winners’ accomplishments and dedication to the Tampa Bay area.  The winners were as follows: Rhea F. Law, Business Services category; Cory Adler, Non-Profit/Social Services category; Karen R. Governor Bush has Recognized September 13-16, 2004, as Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week.
