Richard (Buzz) David, CEcD, Accepts Top Job at Amarillo Economic Development; PCED Welcomes Mike Meidel as New Director. PCED’s Director, Buzz David will be departing on July 16th to become the President of the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation. Mr. David will be greatly missed by his staff and colleagues. During his tenure, he has made significant contributions to Pinellas County, the region and the state’s economic development efforts.
The PCED team is delighted to welcome Mike Meidel, Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce President and CEO, as the new Director at PCED. Tampa - St. Petersburg - Clearwater MSA Leads Florida in Job Growth. Over 22,000 new jobs, largely in the Professional and Business Services Industry, were created in the Tampa Bay area during May 2004, contributing to Florida’s top ranking job growth. Preliminary unemployment rates for Pinellas County and Florida were also positive, with Pinellas County’s unemployment rate at 3.4%, (compared to 5.7% nationally), and Florida’s unemployment rate at 4.6%. Develop Effective Record Keeping Systems With QuickBooks Training. The Pinellas County Business Development Center is hosting Mastering QuickBooks, training for businesses that are utilizing QuickBooks to develop effective record keeping systems. The seminar will be held on July 27th from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon and will feature Jill Ames Bartholmey of JLZ Enterprises. Participants will learn QuickBooks basics through hands-on examples, valuable tips from the pros, and an interactive question/answer session. Mexico Inbound Mission Builds Ties and Promotes Business Opportunities.
