National Small Business Administration (SBA) 2004 Expo is coming to Orlando May 19-21. The National Expo corresponds with National Small Business Week, and salutes the contribution small businesses have made to the economy.  Participants will meet with procurement agents from the public and private sector, network with fellow business owners, participate in business sessions to learn cutting-edge business practices, meet with business exhibitors and attend special events at Disney theme parks. Planning to Stay in Pinellas: Assistance for Growing Local Businesses.  Melco, a growing Pinellas Park packaging manufacturer and distributor, is well aware of the business advantages of locating in Pinellas County.  The company has been working closely with the City of Pinellas Park to ensure Melco and their 49 employees can grow within the city limits.  By reducing or eliminating fees associated with the construction of Melco’s new location, the City of Pinellas Park has assisted this organization as they, “Plan to Stay.”  To learn more about business retention programs in Pinellas Park, contact Bud Wortendyke at (727) 541-0702. Join Governor Bush on a Trade and Business Development Mission to Canada July 26-30.  The mission will spotlight Ottawa and Montreal, and is essential to strengthening relationships with Florida’s second largest export market. Does Your Company Need a New Marketing Strategy to Reach Additional Customers?  The Pinellas County Business Development Center is hosting Marketing Your Business, a seminar to help companies develop new promotional strategies, expand their target market, and update their approach to acquiring new customers.  The seminar will be held on May 20, from 10 a.m. until 12 noon and there is no fee to attend. Clearwater Pinellas Technical Education Center (PTEC) to hold Programmed Logic Controller (PLC) Basics Workshop. The May 4th workshop will be held from 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and will brief plant managers, machine operators, and maintenance technicians on the common misconceptions of PLC’s, troubleshooting strategies, programming and available training. Gain a New Perspective at the Dali Museum’s Centennial Celebration. The museum’s eighteen month celebration is well underway at the museum on St. Pete’s downtown waterfront.
