March 4, 2003 - The Pinellas County Business Development Center has courses to help you and your employees grow and improve your business. The Center offers business counseling, training and resources that can help your small or start-up businesses. Here are upcoming classes that will be held at the Pinellas County Business Development Center, 14010 Roosevelt Blvd., Suite 706, Clearwater. Classes fill quickly. Early registration is suggested.
Entrepreneurship 101 - What you need to know before starting your new business
Thursday, March 20, 5:45 – 8:45 p.m. and
Thursday, April 17, 5:45 – 8:45 p.m.
This course is designed to help potential entrepreneurs understand what it is like to own their own business and help them determine personal strengths and weaknesses as well as readiness for an entrepreneurial endeavor. The fee for this course is $15. Advance registration is encouraged.
How to Do Business with Pinellas County
Thursday, March 27, 1 – 3 p.m.
and Thursday, May 1, 1 – 3 p.m.
Register your business with Pinellas County Purchasing, and learn how your business can get notified in the system. Presented by Pinellas County Purchasing Director Joe Lauro. There is no fee for this course. Advance registration is encouraged.
Federal Taxes Made Easy for the Small Business Owner
Tuesday, April 1, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A Brown Bag Lunch presentation.
Bring your own lunch and receive valuable insight on a wide range of business tax topics, including: tax forms and publications, preparing returns, “tax filing around the corner,” record keeping, tax fraud alerts and abusive schemes. Presented by Melaney Partner and Tom Peters, IRS Senior Tax Specialists. Free. Advance registration is encouraged.
Where’s the Money? – Financing a Small Business
Tuesday, April 8, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Learn how to qualify for a variety of loan programs available through the SBA, private banks, CDCs and Intermediaries. Speakers include: Brad Owens, Vice President and Government Lending Product Specialist, “The SBA Guy”, at Bank of America; Beverly Pringle, Vice President in the SBA Lending Division at United Bank; Ron Reuss, President of Gulf Coast Certified Development Corporation; and Frances Wimberly, President of the Tampa Bay Black Investment Corporation. This free event is sponsored by Bank of America, which is also providing a free lunch. Advance registration is required.
NXLeveL Business Training – Business Start-ups Training Program
Every Tuesday night for 10 weeks beginning
May 6 from 5:45 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Are you ready to be your own boss? Do you have a great idea that you think would make a successful business? Are you ready to take your career to the next level? If you’ve answered “yes” to any of these questions, you should consider enrolling in the NxLeveL™ Business Start-ups course. NxLeveL™ Business Start-ups course is a nationally recognized 10-session course whose purpose is to help start-up entrepreneurs develop a mechanism by which to learn the art of business and enable them to work through the various stages of business growth and development. This course costs $99 and includes comprehensive reference book and all class handouts. Advance registration is required.
